I spent a year picking ocean debris off beaches in Falmouth, Massachusetts and incorporating the objects I found into Trapped. It all started with two crushed lobster traps and a tire buried in the tide line. My rule for this project was that all of the objects – be they trash or carcass – had to have washed up out of the ocean. When on display, an underwater video I filmed in Falmouth's Green Pond is projected onto the sculpture.
